Short Bio:
Evocative of the space between waking and sleep, Whitworth instinctively
knows how to capture the listener completely, reaching directly to the heart. Her richly textured songs are transcendent of love and heartbreak, a spellbinding apparition saturated with grace. A talented songwriter and instrumentalist, Whitworth has dabbled throughout the Americana genre, originally the front-woman in the acclaimed bluegrass/folk group The Biscuit Burners, and now a successful solo artist. Her first album, No Expectations, debuted in 2008. Whitworth will release her greatly anticipated sophomore effort in August 2010.
This year has been an exciting one for Whitworth and her band. Early in the festival season they performed at Merlefest- the gold standard of Americana Festivals- to a great response. Later in the year they will be appearing at the Philadelphia Folk Festival. The Shannon Whitworth Band will be touring heavily this fall in support of her exciting new release, Water Bound.
